How SARMS Work

Anabolic or Androgenic?

Steroids increase the big T (testosterone) increasing protein synthesis in your cells. This is the anabolic side of steroids.

Unfortunately steroids also have androgenic effects on the body including damaging the liver, prostate and heart, not to mention messing with your reproductive systems (ball shrinkage anyone?).

Most steroids convert to DHT or Estrogen so you have the increased chance of DHT side effects like hair loss for DHT or water retention.

SARMS to the rescue

This is where SARMs come in. They are far more selective than steroids, boasting anabolic-to-androgenic ratios of 3:1 and in some cases almost 90:1. That means you can still get the muscle growth and fat loss, but without those nasty side effects. SARMS can also be taken orally, much more socially acceptable.

And they're legal!!?

SARMs are legal as long as you buy them “for research purposes only.”

It is currently a grey area here in New Zealand and in the long term they may be banned as although they have far fewer health risks than steroids it is inevitable that someone will abuse them.

There are about a dozen SARMs in either clinical (human) trials or pre-clinical (animal) trials but unfortunately long term studies showing their safety are non-existent.
